The Fire House Inc. is a multi-storey cultural hub set in the heart of Newcastle upon Tyne. The design is housed within the now uninhabited old
Fire Station, Police Station and Magistrates' courts on the corner of Pilgrim street and Market street. The multi-purpose venue boasts
a street art gallery and event space in the basement, a street food kitchen and performance venue on the ground floor,
a fine Italian restaurant on the 1st floor and a Piano Lounge and bar on the 2nd and 3rd floors. It also has an outdoor
mezzanine within the courtyard looking down onto the buskers piazza. The goal behind the Fire House Inc. was
to rejuvinate an area of Newcastle that has been lacking in development and provide new opportunities
to local buskers, musicians, street artists and food vendors.
The concept was inspired by the site geometry, the journey's we take day to day and in particular the street
networks of New York City, Paris and Miami. The monolithic and iconic facade of the Fire station created a
recognisable back drop to house the various floors without much need to change the existing building itself.
Two of the 6 existing fire doors were removed and replaced with glazing to allow sightlines into the space during
all hours from the passing public.

The Burrow Down farmstead is a unique wedding experience set in the idyllic Northumberland countryside. The brief was to create a fun, quirky and unique wedding venue that for all intents and purposes would look like an actual farmstead leaving the guests in amazement when they step into the interior itself.
This was a competition brief run by local leisure property developer group named the Apartment Group who have a rich portfolio of gastro pubs, restaurants and wedding venues in and around the North East. The concept of the venue was derived from looking above and below a farmstead.
In the Ground Floor reception hall this notion of "above and below" is shown in the root system ceiling feature. This reflects the tree features in the first floor night bar booths where guests can migrate to as the night goes on. Bocci lights are used throughout the space as they generated low level lighting to create an mysterious and magical atmosphere that suits the venue.
The First Floor features a long curved bar inspired by rabbit burrows with a reclaimed pine facade and backlit translucent resin counter top. A piano stand and curved seating is located at the back of the first floor offering a more relaxed environment than the dancefloor below.
